Barrow WwTW

The purpose of this project is to provide a fully automated sludge dewatering system at Barrow WwTW.

The quality requirements relate to process improvements to ensure compliance with the revised EA consent standards and meet the new legislative requirements.

The sludge dewatering system previously utilised a filter press, however due to performance and reliability issues it has been decided to adopt the centrifuge system and install ancillary processes including sludge handling system, polymer makeup and dosing systems, and new sludge feed.

All the existing ancillary systems such as Sludge Feed, Process Water Supply and Decant Pumping are controlled via the Sludge Dewatering MCC. This MCC is to be replaced by a new MCC incorporating Siemens PLC, Siemens HMI, Simocode Starters and Profibus DP/PA communications to new plant and instrumentation.
